Bechdel Film Club: Two Days, One Night

  • Women's Center, Frist 243 (map)

The Bechdel Film Club is an opportunity to watch new and classic films that pass the Bechdel Test. The test was created by Allison Bechdel, it highlights how women are underrepresented in film. There are three simple criterion:

1. There must be two women in the film, both with names
2. The two women must talk to each other
3. They must talk about something other than a man.

This week's movie, Two Days, One Night by the Dardenne Brothers, focuses on Sandra, a young Belgian mother battling depression. After returning from a week away to her job at a solar panel factory, she discovers that her workmates have opted for a significant pay bonus, in exchange for her dismissal. She has only one weekend to convince her colleagues to give up their bonuses so that she can keep her job.

Dinner will be provided.
Open to all undergraduate & graduate students, staff, faculty and administrators.
